THE HISTORY OF CROSSWOOD CHURCH

Crosswood Church was established by God 2003. Pastor Bill Sherman had been called into the ministry quite some time before that but he realized God had to prepare him for this ministry. As faithful followers of the Lord, in early 2001 as Pastor Bill and Pam Sherman attended Bible Temple Family Worship Center in Toledo, they were offered a position in the Teen Ministry at that church. Being obedient to the Lord, they accepted this calling and began what grew into an awesome ministry reaching the area teens with the love of Christ. As time went on God moved again and opened the doors for them to branch out and in April of 03' the Lord establish Crosswood Church. A Conference room in the Comfort Inn in Rossford Ohio was the original meeting place. As quick as 3 months later the church moved to a more practical location at the old 'Martin School' at the corners of Hill and Holland-Sylvania. Being able to utilize the 'school' auditorium on Sunday mornings was a blessing but it didn't take long to realize 1 day a week just wasn't enough for this ministry. They began having a weekly bible study at the Pastor's house with typically 5-8 people and that quickly out grew the dining room. The need for a more versatile location was essential. So in August 04', God answered prayer and brought the church to the corners of Hill and Reynolds in the Meadowbrook Plaza with an original space of only 1500 sq. ft., but the ability to utilize the space 7 days a week was awesome. As God began to draw more people to Crosswood Church, 1500 sq. ft. were not near enough, and in February of 05' an additional 3000 sq. ft. was acquired. This allowed them to have youth class rooms for Sunday school and a nursery to utilize simultaneously with the service. Then another 1000 sq. ft. was added in October 05' for a beautiful foyer and a grand total of 5500 sq. ft. It seemed though, like God didn't want them to rest. Pastor Bill Sherman was given yet another vision by God and soon they were remodeling the 4000 sq. ft. unit on the end of the complex into the new sanctuary along with a new 1000 sq. ft. foyer. We now have a grand total of over 10,000 sq. ft. in the Meadowbrook Plaza. This includes 2 beautiful Sunday school class rooms, a nursery, huge ministry offices, a large versatile community center (used for Tues. evening bible study), a welcoming foyer, and a large sanctuary. Every attempt is made to offer a variety of ministries to utilize the place God has blessed us with. As we grow in number of servants of the Lord, Crosswood Church will continue to offer even more ministries to the people God brings into His house.
